FolderTamer Terms of Service

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and us about your use of the FolderTamer desktop app for Windows and the website at foldertamer.com. By installing, activating or using FolderTamer, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use FolderTamer.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we receive and how we use it, and our Refund Policy explains how refunds work. Both are part of these terms.

2. Who we are

FolderTamer is developed and run by an independent developer (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@foldertamer.com.

3. Your license

FolderTamer is licensed to you, not sold. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use FolderTamer on Windows computers, for personal or business purposes, as follows:

• Pro Lifetime: a one-time purchase that lets you use FolderTamer with unlimited watched folders and automations, combined conditions (AND / OR), and Pro recipes, on up to 3 computers at the same time. There are no subscription fees.

“Lifetime” means for as long as FolderTamer version 1 runs on your Windows computer. Section 10 explains what happens if we ever stop running the licensing service.

A license belongs to the person or organization who bought it. An organization may assign it to one person at a time, who may use it on up to 3 computers.

4. License keys and activation

• Activating Pro needs an internet connection. After that, FolderTamer works offline and checks your license in the background from time to time when you’re online.
• To move your license to a new computer, deactivate it on the old one in Settings & License first. If you can no longer reach the old computer, email us and we’ll free up the slot.
• Keep your license key private. You are responsible for any use of your key, and if it is shared publicly we may deactivate it (see section 10).

5. Purchases and refunds

The price is the one shown at checkout, including any taxes that apply. Purchases on our website are processed by Paddle, which sells FolderTamer to you as our reseller. Its buyer terms also apply to your purchase. Purchases through the Microsoft Store are also covered by Microsoft’s terms.

You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, for any reason. See our Refund Policy for how to ask. When a refund is issued, the license from that purchase is deactivated.

6. Updates

Pro includes every update to FolderTamer version 1 at no extra cost. If we release a new major version, we may charge for it, and your version 1 license keeps working either way. We may add, change or remove features and recipes in updates, but we won’t remove a core feature you paid for from version 1.

7. Your files and automations

FolderTamer moves, renames, compresses and deletes files based on the automations you create or approve, including ones suggested by Magic Create, recipes, or an AI assistant you connect. Please check an automation before turning it on, especially one that deletes files or runs a script.

• You are responsible for the automations you turn on and for having backups of files that matter to you.
• Undo and rollback can reverse moves and renames, and files sent to the Recycle Bin can be restored from there. Files you choose to permanently delete, and changes made by your own scripts, can’t be undone by FolderTamer.
• FolderTamer blocks actions on key Windows system folders, but this protection is not a guarantee.

8. Online features and other services

Some features connect to services we don’t control, such as a cloud AI provider you set up for Magic Create, or an AI assistant you connect to FolderTamer. Your use of those services is covered by their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren’t responsible for what they do. The online recipe catalog is provided as a convenience, and we may change or remove recipes at any time.

9. What you may not do

You agree not to:

• Share, publish, sell or give away your license key, or use it on more computers than your license allows.
• Bypass, disable or tamper with license checks, or generate or use unauthorized keys.
• Copy, modify, sell, rent or redistribute FolderTamer, except for installing it as these terms allow.
• Reverse engineer or decompile FolderTamer, except where the law allows it despite this restriction.
• Attack, overload or try to get unauthorized access to our website or servers.
• Use FolderTamer to break the law or to access files you have no right to access.

10. Ending your license

You can stop using FolderTamer at any time by uninstalling it. We may deactivate a license if it is refunded or disputed, if the key has been shared publicly or used beyond its limits, or if it was obtained by fraud. Before deactivating a license for any reason other than a refund or dispute, we will email the purchaser if we can and give them a chance to explain.

If we ever stop running the licensing service, we will make reasonable efforts to release a final update that lets existing Pro licenses keep working without it.

11. No warranty

To the extent the law allows, FolderTamer is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that FolderTamer will be free of errors or will work without interruption.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits or business, arising from your use of FolderTamer. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license, or USD 10 if you paid nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer where you live.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will change the effective date at the top of this page when we do. If a change significantly affects your rights, we will announce it on our website and, if we have your email address, by email before it takes effect. Changes never take away rights you already paid for.
